What Career Coaching Can Do for You

Last week, I introduced a new Career Clarity Quiz to help you answer one of the toughest career coaching questions I consistently hear from clients:
“Is it me or is it my job?”
But what can career coaching really do for you and for your career?
For many of my clients, that’s the question they’ve been sitting with for a long time before they reach out.
And more often than not, they assume it's a personal failure before even considering that their environment might be part of the problem.
But once they finally have a space to talk it through – coaching often becomes the turning point when things start to shift.

Why Do People Choose Career Coaching?
To recap what I shared last week, most clients come to me because they're navigating:
➡️ Tough career decisions
➡️ Imposter syndrome
➡️ Leading others through uncertainty and pressure
➡️ Uncomfortable workplace dynamics
And under all of that, they want feel like their work matters again.
What Do They Get Out of Career Coaching?
When someone asked me recently, “What results do your clients get?” – I thought of the big, exciting wins:
✅ Earning the best performance review of their career
✅ Going from feeling like an imposter to feeling like a rock star at work
✅ Landing a leadership promotion – and actually loving the new role
✅ Leaving a draining job for one where they feel valued – and getting a huge salary bump
But honestly? I think the deeper wins are even more meaningful:
⭐ Clarity about what they truly want and what’s within their control
⭐ Rebuilding their confidence from the inside out
⭐ Dropping the stress they’ve been carrying – at work and at home
⭐ Learning to trust themselves again, no matter what challenge comes their way
Why Does Career Coaching Work?
Because coaching is finally having someone in your corner. Someone who:
➡️ Isn’t caught up in your office dynamics
➡️ Isn’t trying to “fix” you
➡️ Believes you already have what it takes – and helps you see that
➡️ Helps you define success on your terms
A lot of clients say, “This feels like therapy.” And while coaching isn’t therapy, I get it. Sometimes it’s the only space where you can say what’s really going on – and feel safe doing it. It’s where you stop asking, “What’s wrong with me?” And start asking, “What do I actually want?”
People Really Need Support – Especially Now
Workplace challenges are only getting harder – and more unsafe for the people working in them. Constant change – restructuring, reorganizing, reducing positions – has become the norm, while culture, values, and integrity are often sidelined.
I hear from clients all the time who are expected to do more with less, take on roles they weren’t trained for, or navigate unclear expectations with little to no support. I hear from leaders who can’t give their people what they need or deserve – because their own leaders aren’t listening or providing support.
So I understand why people who need support might hesitate to invest in coaching right now. But I think the more important question is:
“How can you afford not to invest in yourself?”
The Most Common Regret I Hear?
“I wish I'd started working with you sooner.”
If you’ve been asking big questions about your career, take the quiz. And when you’re ready, let’s talk.
